From there it's fairly simple although in the later forests, around Fernworthy, there's a lot of deforestation so all the maps are a bit inaccurate in the size of the forests. But once you make it to Chagford it's a beautiful little town with a great camping shop for getting any new supplies....

The route follows the Dartmoor Way High Moor link (DWHML) (technically the plotted route follows a bridleway but the DWHML is the walked route). At Hexworthy the route joins minor country lanes & past the Forest Inn. The route continues on minor lanes & footpaths to Dartmeet, where there is a café in the car park. The slow way follows the road but it’s not too busy (even in August) & for the most part you can walk on verge. Dropping down into the River Dart valley the way follows footpaths through fields & woodland & then on minor roads into Ashburton....

It takes you on the RedLake Tramway which is a great hike, just be prepared for wet boots & plenty of wind!...

Once out of Yelverton, quite a lot of this route follows disused railway routes and are just long, gentle inclines....

Second, the path from Postbridge to Chagford via the reservoir is poorly marked on the slow ways maps. Just after this the Slow Ways path goes straight on, but really the better path is to the right and into the forest above the reservoir....

I walked most of this route but deviated at the Tavistock end by going up Green Lane to reach the golf course (from Mount Tavy Road, north of this route)....

Walk this routeThis route works, but it was very very wet in a few places when I tried to walk it. I've shared Priivy Two as a good alternative that is very similar, just a bit more dry....

Some of the route is on an old railway and on solid tracks, but do come prepared for wet ground and indistinct paths....

surrounded by beautiful moorland, with forest walking, disused mining railway trail and some road between Princetown and Two Bridges....

A very enjoyable walk using bridleways and old disused railways to cross open moorland. Scarcely any road, but that which exists near Yelverton is a quiet lane with pavement or wide verges. very pleasant walk....
