The next section of the route is along a minor public road without verges so care has to be taken of traffic. The finish of the route diverges from Lonhad Two at Lower Alderston Road. There is no access on to Hospital Road from the route shown on the Slow Ways map going along the north side of the hospital building....

If you start from the B1377 to the east of the station car parks, take the track signed "access to railway walk". The route is very clear and easy to follow apart from locating the path for the section east from Somnerfield Crescent. You need to go between 10 and 12 Somnerfield Crescent into the park beyond and follow the path through the park....

Walking towards North Berwick you have ever changing perspectives of the relative distance between the islands of Fidra, Lamb, Craigleith, and Bass Rock....

I did not walk the section into Longniddry, which is really the distinguishing feature, so I feel I can't be definitive, but the path along the beach is nice and easy to follow, as you would expect from the John Muir way....

There are parts of this route that are less pleasant (Gullane and immediately after), as you are on the pavement of a busy road, but on the whole it is still a nice walk and easy to follow. I split from it at Dirleton to go more directly to North Berwick (I now realise, following the John Muir cycle route), so I can't comment on the last loop....
