Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

Hiking Historian
13 Nov 2022A good route between two urban areas with some nice green interludes.
From Walton Church, through Walton Hall Park and onto the Liverpool Loop Line. Exiting the old railway (unfortunately a couple of steps after a ramp); a lengthy pavement walk, before heading into Croxteth Park. A short pavement pound to a park, followed by a long road walk, then a footpath under the motorway, before another long road walk to the end at Prescot.
It is mostly accessible to all, but there are some problematic areas: lack of ramps or low kerbs in places; the odd step; very narrow pavements over a bridge near Croxteth Hall. Easy for walkers and dogs, but wheelchairs and buggies may have a few problems.
Also, the route has a couple of sections I'd correct. First, it says to go around the roundabout on Waterpark Drive on the south side, but it's best to go around the north, given that we take the next left turn. And second, there is no route around the roundabout at the junction with the M57; instead, continue along the pavement until the next crossing, opposite Blenheim Drive, and then come back on yourself onto the final approach to Prescot.
Overall a good walk. Lots of pavements, but also a fair few parks and green spaces to wander through.
