Description
An upgraded version of Grebla One which corrects the 'off piste' routing error through Greenwich Park, and also uses safe crossing points in Greenwich.
Otherwise as Grebla One.
Lovely direct route between Greenwich and Blackheath across Greenwich Park and Blackheath.
There is one steep hill in Greenwich Park, by the observatory. Possibly the best view of east London and the City is from the top of the hill.
All good paths and safe crossing points

07 Oct 2022 (edited 20 Nov 2023)Great route, lots to see, very green and great views. The path used to get down/up the hill in Greenwich Park is one of the steepest ways to go through the Park but it has the best views and passes the Royal Observatory, the cafe and the coffee-hut, as well as a Meridian photo-op to be stood with one foot in the eastern hemisphere and one in the west.
You can see more glowing reviews and photos of this route on GreBla One as this is the route they would actually have walked. The steep grassy slope GreBla One sends you down is blocked off even more thoroughly as of Nov 2023, it's being made even steeper to recreate a 17th century feature called the "Grand Ascent".
There are two sets of accessible public toilets in Greenwich Park, worth knowing as there is only one single toilet in very busy Greenwich town centre. The park is locked promptly around dusk the evening, see Royal Parks website for exact times. If the steep hill and flight of steps aren’t suitable for you the best way down is probably the less steep traffic-free road a bit further east, which also passes the other set of toilets - see attached map. The route is all tarmacked or paved except a handful of very short cobbled sections in Greenwich.

27 Sep 2022This is a very direct, but still scenic, route. Through the park it sticks to the paths where cycling is allowed, which makes this a better route than Grebla One if you're cycling. Very easy to navigate.

07 Oct 2022Cycling isn't allowed on the exact route but there is a good traffic-free road route that goes roughly the same from Greenwich to Blackheath. If you tried cycling along the exact route you'd be knocking down tourists like skittles!

18 Sep 2022Excellent 5 star route connecting Greenwich to Blackheath. I made this route to correct errors with Grebla One, especially the misrouting at the hill in Greenwich Park.
Walked Blackheath to Greenwich.
Uphill at Blackheath to the heath, easy path across the heath into Greenwich Park.
There was a lovely holiday feeling in the park, tourists enjoying the sunshine. The view from the top of the hill by the observatory is stunning.
I stopped for a drink at one of the pubs in Greenwich. The roads here can be tricky to cross so I have routed this version to use safe crossing points. That is why it looks a bit wiggly waggly. It is worth it to walk through the market area and finish at the Cutty Sark.
A terrific route, history, parks, benches, refreshments - everything for a great time!.
