Description
This route is similar to SILEXE(one) out of Exeter but does not go along the A396 which is way to busy and fast a road to be a viable Slow ways route. This does not even cross that road. Instead goes through Killerton, the National Trust property. It then enters (or leaves) Silverton from the South East.. It also avoids the narrow enclosed road to the South West of Silverton

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

03 Sep 2022 (edited 05 Sep 2022)Up though the university and out the city via woods and paths. Need to cross the main line railway at an unmanned crossing but on a long straight stretch of track.

30 Aug 2022Walked this one north out of Exeter into Silverton. Steady gentle climb out of Exeter up to Stoke Hill. Nice use of the woods in Killerton Park/ColumbJohn Wood to break up the scenery and provide some shade/shelter along the way. There's a level crossing a mile south of Silverton which demands some care and attention, as it's an uncontrolled crossing straight across the tracks used by HST trains.

05 Sep 2022Thanks Bob totally agree. It's my preferred route of the 3 options as it avoids the main road. But does require attention when crossing the railway.

06 Aug 2022A great route which avoids the main road. Caution is required on the minor road at Stoke Post. There is no footpath and although there are 30mph signs, these are not always observed. The amount of vehicle debris on the bend is testimony to this. Plenty of good footpaths throughout the route. Also a crossing of the main line on an uncontrolled crossing demands attention.
