Description
Like Eshewe 1, but with a safety correction, and a new path around a housing estate. Also more accurate mapping with the right street crossing points

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

23 Apr 2023I walked this from Ewell to Esher on a cloudy Saturday morning, with little rain in the previous week.
From Ewell the route starts along some busy roads, with not always great pavements, before following a shared metalled path (photo #1), which is nice and wide. Walking along Chantilly Way is OK (photo #2), as there is a good pavement. After crossing Horton Lane, the route goes past Hobbledown (photo #3) and through Horton Country Park was lovely (photo #4). West of Chessington South station, the route goes down Banwell Lane — although there is no pavement (photo #5), and it is busy, cars were driving very slowly as there are so many pot holes. There is then a muddy footpath north, and then east again (photo #6), to end up at the Esher Bypass, with a tunnel. The path there is a little muddy, but not too much (photo #7), before end up at Lower Wood Road where the route then follows residential streets of Claygate. From here the route goes north towards Telegraph Hill, a fairly steep walk, but lovely views at the top (photo #8), and easy to walk. Manor Road South (photo #9) is easy going, and after a short section along a road of Oaken Lane (photo #10), there is a foot path on the west to follow (photo #11). Instead of going along Littleworth Road (photo #12), there is a parallel footpath. It's a little muddy but not too bad. Going through Littlewood Lane and Sundown Road (photo #13) is easy, with little traffic as it's all blocked off. The sun came out here as well. After that, it was a short section along the High Street to end up at the finish (photo #14).
