04 Jan 2023In Bradford, between the Lidl in Barkerend and the A6177/Leeds Road junction, the route passes through some very deprived residential areas. I was approached from behind by a man asking for the time, who didn't even stop to hear my response when I told him without getting my phone out. Perhaps an unfortunate experience, but it did feel a little uncomfortable. The rest of the route was fine. The countryside paths between Tyersal and Pudsey were very muddy after all the rain, but pleasant to walk along.

29 Mar 2022Leaving Bradford the first three miles of this route is along roads, most of them not main roads. It is a long steady climb uphill, but the compensation is a string of interesting buildings, and then glimpses of good views as you get higher.
After Tyersal the route follows a lovely wooded, rural section for a mile, on good footpaths. Towards the end there may be horseriders.
The final section into Pudsey follows very nice housing streets and pedestrian lanes.
I really enjoyed this walk, especially the wooded section, where there was a lot of birdsong, including buzzards. Some walkers may be put off by the amount of pavement walking at the Bradford end, but this looks as if it is unavoidable and a quite decent route has been chosen.
