Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

21 Jul 2023Agree with the previous review. A better route would be to take the right of way through the former Legal and General site (SCC footpath number 47). This avoids Copt Hill Lane which is a private road and has no public right of way. That said, on old ordnance survey maps the adjoining bridleway (current SCC number 46) extended the full length of the lane and was a marked right of way.

06 Mar 2022Was all set to give this route 5 stars but at the north end of Kingswood at TQ 2472 5720 the route turns into a road marked "Private Road - No Thoroughfare". There is no right of way marked. I decided to follow it anyway to see what happened and was greeted by a friendly local dogwalker, moaning about the weather. So I wasn't challenged and it appears non-residents do walk it. So does the sign refer only to cars as is sometimes the case? I've been able to reroute this Slow Way via actual rights of way and have walked the alternative which is more direct. This route is walkable, but there's not much to be gained by sticking with this version. I want anyone walking a route to feel comfortable, and not feel like they'll get hassle for doing so.

25 Jun 2022From Outwood Lane/Waterhouse Lane there's a footpath north that goes across the railway and through Legal and General land to Reads Rest Lane and then rejoins path to Holly Lane.
