Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

07 May 2024I walked this route as part of a group. The route mainly follows a section of the Weavers' Way walking trail, which is an established public footpath that runs from Cromer to Great Yarmouth. The route passes through woodland and farmland along an old disused railway line, and parts of the route are used by horse riders and cyclists.
The route can be accessed from the road, and there are car parks on either end which can serve as landmarks for the beginning and end of the Weavers' Way section. It can be difficult to locate the Aylsham car park as we found that it wasn't listed on navigation apps or satnavs, and there's very little information about it online. If you use the car park, mind which direction you go at the start, as the path visible from the car park will lead you in the opposite direction.
There is clear signage once you make your way onto the trail. There's a dangerous road crossing not far from the start of the route as you cross the A140, which you should take care doing.
Only parts of the path are paved, with most of the path going along uneven and potentially muddy ground, so it's suitable for walking but would be difficult to wheel this route. The route extends beyond the Weavers' Way car park once you get into North Walsham, and this section of the route is paved and easy to access.
